Gymnema (Gudmar), or Meshshringi, is a highly valuable herb in Ayurvedic medicine. True to its name, this herb is known for its ability to reduce sweetness. Gudmar’s leaves and roots contain triterpenoid saponins like glucuronic acid, galacturonic acid, ferulic and angelic acids, gymnemagenin, gymnemic acid, betaine, choline, resin, and gymneminal alkaloids.
